The Boathouse, Wichita, KS

Installed and designed by: Dennis Craven, Wichita Audio Arts
Posh Products: 26 T-2 surface mount speakers

I was requested by the city to evaluate and make upgrade proposals on 2 city properties, the Boathouse being one of them. The Boathouse is an active museum here in Wichita.

The downstairs (housing the Americas Cup trophy) utilizes 10 Posh model T-2's in white. Intelligibility and distribution were two of the concerns in the downstairs system. I addressed this by adding loudspeaker positions, using the higher definition T-2, then squaring the power. Other components in this system are sampson mixer/amp, and shure uhf wireless systems (2). This floor is routinely used for banquets, weddings, and meetings.

The upstairs seats over 200 and is used for meetings, banquets, and parties. Again, distribution of audio throughout the acoustic environment and intelligibility were concerns. The conventional metal box enclosure with paper low compliance loudspeakers (8) were replaced with the Posh model T-2 (16) in black. Because of the directionality of the T-2 we were able to create a very favorable zone for the lectern in regards to micing applications. With the changes complete we were able to achieve well over 10db of useable gain. Other components in this system are a Toa mixer, Crest power, Shure DSP, and Audio Technica uni-point products.

Calibration utilized: Goldline, Smaart, and experience.
